1. Data Management User Groups Discussion - Attachment will be used as the basis for discussion.
Summary. The UNLV Data Governance Structure is derived from the Summary Proposal for a University Data Management Structure, approved by CIOC, 3-2005 and by Cabinet, 4-2005. The Executive Sponsors agreed that user groups should be formed, with the membership represented on the DGCouncil web site. Executive Sponsors agreed to help you as necessary to bring them together. The target date to have the groups in place is mid-January.
"The committee structure would consist of a Data Policy Committee, a Data Managers Committee, and associated Users Groups. Together these groups would represent policy-level and operational-level responsibility for managing the University’s information resources. Data managers from each enterprise level system would establish the Data Users Groups to provide a formal mechanism for communication among data users, data processors, and data managers. These individuals connect the data managers to ways in which the institution uses the data." Data Policy Committee is now Data Governance Executive Sponsors Data Managers Committee is Data Governance Council, made up of data stewards.
2. Preview of Data Governance use of the TMA system to manage our data management projects. -- Rick and Frank will demonstrate the application
3. OIT Security Discussion - Don will present
The two remaining capstone policies are: IS03: Protection of Personal Non-Public Information and IS04: University Infrastructure Responsibilities and Services
4. November report to Executive Sponsors – send anything that you want to have included to me via e-mail. Draft will be out for your approval by Friday.
