2. Any other updates on Data Governance Projects?
2a. From Elora:
Please place number 16 - Recruitment data base does not report on employment history -- on Park/Hold until some future date as there isn't really an active issue to tackle yet.
2b. Two new projects were introduced
First Generation Students

Community of Interest: Karen Emptage, Christina Drum
Non-State Supported / State-Supported flag

3. – Documenting Business Processes - Jesse Zurschmeide
See attached Charge to Data Stewards, and in particular task #3
Develop operational procedures and processes to assure that data is entered and stored accurately.
Work was initiated in the student area in preparation for the iNtegrate project that is a major example of that task. Links to their website are available from the Data Governance site under button Data Integrity Procedures
Jesse will describe work done in the Registrar’s Office to create business process documentation.
4. Data Users Groups have been difficult to identify.
Note the roles defined for the Data Users Groups
1. Provide a formal mechanism for communication among data users, data processors, and data managers.
2. Connect the data managers to ways in which the institution uses the data
a. See examples from Student Accounts and Fin Aid – positions, not people, attached.
b. Registrar wants to vet user issues through the Data Governance Council
Let’s talk about these proposals and see if we can come up with a reasonable consensus.
5. Internal “Experts” groups
This is not a group that will have a regular meeting, but rather individuals who will help on an as needed basis
Most of you have identified you own internal group of experts that will be called upon when questions arise that require specific knowledge. - See attached list of areas and people
As a courtesy, an introduction will go out to everyone on this list explaining to them that they have a role in this overall initiative
Telling who the data steward is in their area
Making them aware that they could get a request from you.
