2. Jurisdiction question – What about areas not specifically represented by the Executive Sponsors?


All data is covered by the data policy that you approved and forwarded. Regarding your scope, how should other representatives contribute at the executive sponsor level? Can data stewards participate without authorization from you? Further questions?


3. Discussion -- Implementing the Data Governance Council (Data Stewards)

A. Charge to the Data Stewards – these are tasks and responsibilities that will be assigned to them
1. Accept responsibility for specific data
2. Review Data Policies, and discuss implications – these are the direction from Executive Sponsors
3. Develop operational procedures and processes, including procedures so that the Executive Sponsors get the right information to monitor the data governance program
4. Work with IT to establish security/access guidelines for data
5. Resolve discrepancies across business units and systems – this is a continuing process, relying on data governance executive sponsors as needed. One example already on the table is applying our data usage policy to building information.
6 Populate metadata repository – each steward will be responsible for the data that is designated to be in their area..
7. Work with NSHE on common data elements list
B. Delegation of decisions to the data stewards – when will you let them work things out.

C. Training for data stewards
