Data Stewardship
Human Resources
1. Provide one sentence (or paragraph) that covers your area of responsibility.
The HR Systems Manager area of responsibility includes data concerning employees, jobs, and benefits.
2. What data systems do you rely on to meet those obligations?
HRMS (Human Resources Management Systems – which is actually a Payroll System) and the HR Data Warehouse derived from HRMS are the primary data systems.
The warehouse includes public and private information about each employee, jobs (up to five) each employee is contracted for, and benefits.
HRMS stores transactional and historical information about employees.
3. Are some of these external to the "core" systems
A variety of applications are used to report information from the two core systems including SQL Developer, Access, Excel, and Cognos 8 BI in the near future.
4. What data are entered and managed by other departments?
HRMS data is entered by many areas of the Finance and Business area including HR, Payroll, Finance, and Budgets.
Within HR, the bulk of data is entered by the Salary Administration and the Benefits Sections.
5. What data does your unit enter and manage that is unique?
The HR Systems Manager does not enter data, but ensures the data integrity so that it is reportable and verifiable.
