Considered a measure of student success, degrees or completions are tracked by a variety of constituencies outside of UNLV and NSHE. The most widely reported measure is the 6-year graduation rate of entering freshmen, reported each year to the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) through the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS). Baccalaureate granting colleges and universities track each cohort of full-time freshmen who are entering college for the first-time to determine what percentage graduate within six years of first enrollment. Although an important benchmark of student success, this measure has limited applicability to institutions with large, non-traditional populations. (These student populations tend to require longer periods of time to complete their degrees.)  However, by providing descriptive information about UNLV graduates, the reports in this section are intended to supplement the traditional graduation rate statistic.

  • More than one-third of UNLV graduate and professional students received bachelor’s degrees from UNLV.
