Student Characteristics

  • Graduate Students at UNLV come from 49 states in the U.S. and 48 foreign countries.
  • Graduate students account for 21.1% of UNLV's 22,342 headcount enrollment.
  • In the past five years, UNLV conferred 118 doctoral degrees in 16 disciplines.
  • In 2000, UNLV hired 421 individuals in graduate assistantships.  Fifty-one of these students were supported by non-state funds.
  • Many UNLV graduate students enroll as non-admitted students for professional renewal, while qualifying for formal admission to graduate programs, and/or to pursue personal interests.
  • The majority of non-admitted graduate students enroll in the College of Education (48%), followed by the College of Liberal Arts (10%), Fine and Performing Arts (9%), and Science and Math (7%).
  • Forty-three percent of UNLV's graduate students earned a baccalaureate degree at UNLV since 1991.
