Faculty Information for Blue Course Evaluations

The Office of Decision Support is working to implement an online course evaluation system. This new system will provide faculty with improved access to student response rates and evaluation reporting. Included in the system is the ability to offer unique questions on a course by course basis. While most of our current users use a standardized template, there are several departments that have program specific questions included in their course evaluations.

1. When is the UNLV course evaluation period?

Typically UNLV Departments request that course evaluations be completed by their students before Final Examinations begin. Therefore, the course evaluations are conducted during the two weeks prior to finals week. There is also the option to conduct course evaluations of modular courses throughout the semester.

2. How do my students access their course surveys?

Students will receive an email with a link to their course survey. They can also access their course evaluations through MyUNLV. If students choose to log in through MyUNLV, they can follow these steps:

  • Log in at https://my.unlv.nevada.edu
  • From the Student Homepage select Resources
  • In the menu on the left, select Course Evaluation
  • Be sure pop-up blockers are disabled
  • Select the Course Evaluation link
  • Courses open for evaluation will appear in a new window to be completed

3. How do I access student response rates and reports?

During and after course evaluations:

  • Faculty can access student response rates during the course evaluation process.
  • Faculty can access evaluation reports via MyUNLV or the Blue System.
  • For MyUNLV:
    • Log in at https://my.unlv.nevada.edu
    • From the Faculty Homepage, select Faculty Resources
    • From the lefthand menu, select Course Evaluation
    • Make sure pop-up blockers are disabled
    • Select Faculty Report
    • Access to your reports should appear in a new window
  • For Blue System:

4. I am concerned about my student response rate with online only surveys.

There may be an initial drop in response rates given that students will be accessing their course surveys with a new system. Faculty can help their students become familiar with Blue by pointing out this website and the associated videos. You can also visit the Increasing Response Rates page for more ideas.

5. How are reminders sent to students?

Students will receive no fewer than three email reminders after the initial invitation email.

6. Who can I contact with questions or concerns?

You can contact the Course Evaluation Coordinator, via email at unlvevals@unlv.nevada.edu.
